Kingdom Rush - Tower Defense

The 2011 browser game that helped drag tower defense out of the Flash-portal era and into a genre of its own, still sitting at 96% positive on Steam a decade after its 2014 Unity port — mostly because the core loop of towers, heroes and boss fights it invented is still the one every entry since, including Ironhide's own sequels, gets measured against.

Kingdom Rush Vengeance - Tower Defense

The fourth mainline Kingdom Rush flips the series to the villain's side and adds a pre-stage tower loadout, and Steam's 93.9% all-time positive score says it landed — but a loud, specific and consistent chorus of long-time fans call it the weakest entry yet, over tighter tower plots, trivialising hero balance and two paid campaign DLCs sold years after launch.

Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD

A competent, familiar entry in a fifteen-year-old tower defense franchise that still lands well with newcomers, while a genuine and specific chorus of long-time fans call it the weakest Kingdom Rush yet — too short at full price, too reliant on paid campaign DLC, and too close to a decade of prior instalments to feel like real evolution.
